Sarsafai Abhiyan

Sarsafai Abhiyan Completed Programme · सरसफाइ अभियान

Household toilets, handwashing stations and school WASH in 19 wards declared open-defecation-free.

Without a toilet at home, women and girls in many Terai villages had to wait until dark — a risk to their health and safety.

Working with ward offices, women’s groups led household campaigns, local masons built low-cost toilets and schools installed handwashing stations. All 19 wards were declared open-defecation-free by the end of the programme.

Objectives

  • Support 6,200 households to build toilets
  • Install handwashing stations in 40 schools
  • Train 60 local masons
  • Achieve open-defecation-free status in 19 wards
